We're fundraising for Childhood Eye Cancer Trust
We're three visually impaired friends who met through goalball, and this August each of us is taking on CHECT's virtual Hospital to Hospital challenge — covering 244 miles (round trip) over 31 days, the distance between The Royal London Hospital and Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital, the only two hospitals in the UK treating retinoblastoma (Rb). We'll each be doing it in our own way and our own time.
What brings us together is a shared passion for supporting individuals and families affected by Rb. One of us had Rb as a child, one of us is a paediatric oncology trainee with an interest in cancer predisposition, and one of us is passionate about global health — but we're all united in believing that research is key to better care and outcomes.
Every mile covered and every pound raised helps CHECT continue to deliver lifelong support to those who need it, drive early diagnosis and understanding, and reduce the negative impact of retinoblastoma.
